World Peace Café Voted "Best Vegetarian Restaurant in Atlanta"
by Fox Five News viewers - see it here
"...when I take my first bite, it's instant bliss. Never mind I'm a Southern-fried, barbecue-devouring carnivore with an affinity for Varsity chili dogs and the Ghetto Burger at Ann's Snack Bar. Every last vegetarian morsel I taste here is absolutely amazing. World Peace Café proves that fresh, organic and thoughtful veggie-centric cuisine done right can soothe the savage meat eater."

Healthy Vegetarian Food - Our Mission and Our Peaceful Environment
The vision of the World Peace Café is to serve nutritious and tasteful vegetarian food in a peaceful, warm, and gracious environment that is reflective of the Buddhist principles of loving kindness and respect for all living beings. The Café uses natural food products and organic locally grown whenever possible, and does not use heat lamps or microwaves, but prepares each meal with care individually. In addition to our excellent vegetarian food, we serve a variety of specialty and organic teas; organic, fair trade, shade-grown coffee; and organic soft drinks. We have some vegan and wheat-free/gluten-free options, as well as superb vegan desserts.
The World Peace Café provides a relaxing, serene environment that is ideal for enjoying a healthy meal, working quietly on a laptop, reading a book, or chatting with friends over tea. It feels like a true sanctuary in the midst of a busy stressful world.
The Heart of Giving - Volunteerism at the Café
The World Peace Café is staffed primarily by volunteers. Some of these volunteers are part of Rameshori Buddhist Center, which owns the World Peace Café. The proceeds of the World Peace Café support Rameshori Center's efforts to provide meditation classes, workshops, and practical Buddhist advice for daily life throughout the southeast. We also have volunteers who are part of the general community who volunteer because they are inspired by our efforts to serve healthy, environmentally friendly vegetarian food, or because they want to support the Buddhist Center's vision for creating peace in the hearts of the individuals of the southeast. You can learn more about a few of our volunteers by reading our Volunteer page.

You were only staying in Atlanta for a few short months -- stopping off to see friends and family -- before heading off to teach in Korea. You could have spent your time relaxing at home, but you decided to spend part of your time volunteering at the World Peace Cafe, instead. What inspired you to do this?
I randomly came to the Café not long after arriving in Atlanta and was instantly drawn in, immediately wanting to return after just one meal. At this point in my life I am exploring many different religions and searching for truth. I have learned great lessons about Dharma and Buddhism in general from the other volunteers. This seems all to perfect to be a coincidence!

Also, volunteering at the cafe provides me with a non-traditional way to passionately show my support for vegetarianism/veganism. Honestly, this experience at the Café has given me so much more than I could ever give by just volunteering a few hours. It has enriched my life in numerous ways and has reminded me that I am my happiest while serving others.
What will you miss most about the World Peace Cafe once you're in Korea?
I will really miss dropping large glass lids on my head. Just kidding, ask Chris, Seth, or Nyema about that one! In reality, I will miss all of my new friends who have been so helpful and so kind to me as a new volunteer. I have never met such a quality group of people who lovingly come together for a number of commendable causes. The leadership of the Café is the best I have seen in any small business and has resulted in a phenomenal operation at all levels. Chris promised that I could still come back and volunteer when I return to the States, so until then I will be thinking of all of the amazing, loving, and FUN people I have met. Ok, I'll miss the Vegan Strawberry Cake too!
