You were only staying in Atlanta for a few short months -- stopping off to see friends and family -- before heading off to teach in Korea.  You could have spent your time relaxing at home, but you decided to spend part of your time volunteering at the World Peace Cafe, instead.  What inspired you to do this?

I randomly came to the Café not long after arriving in Atlanta and was instantly drawn in, immediately wanting to return after just one meal.  At this point in my life I am exploring many different religions and searching for truth.  I have learned great lessons about Dharma and Buddhism in general from the other volunteers.  This seems all to perfect to be a coincidence!  Also, volunteering at the cafe provides me with a non-traditional way to passionately show my support for vegetarianism/veganism.  Honestly, this experience at the Café has given me so much more than I could ever give by just volunteering a few hours.  It has enriched my life in numerous ways and has reminded me that I am my happiest while serving others.

What will you miss most about the World Peace Cafe once you're in Korea?

I will really miss dropping large glass lids on my head.  Just kidding, ask Chris, Seth, or Nyema about that one!  In reality, I will miss all of my new friends who have been so helpful and so kind to me as a new volunteer.  I have never met such a quality group of people who lovingly come together for a number of commendable causes.   The leadership of the Café is the best I have seen in any small business and has resulted in a phenomenal operation at all levels.  Chris promised that I could still come back and volunteer when I return to the States, so until then I will be thinking of all of the amazing, loving, and FUN people I have met.  Ok, I'll miss the Vegan Strawberry Cake too!
